What are the characteristics of a good friend?

We will begin the school year with Grade 5 students and teachers engaging in book group conversations around this essential question. 

Every rising fifth grader should read ONE of the titles from the list below.  We encourage students to read this book closer to the start of school.

Every student chooses at least 3 more books to read over the summer.

 

Use Mrs. Lansdale’s Libguides (see blue tabs above to access books published in the last year) and reading lists on the school library page to find recommended titles. You can also take advantage of your Public Library Summer Reading Programs, where books , audiobooks and e-books are available for free.  

 

CHALLENGE:  Pick a CLASSIC as one of your free read choices.  This may be a good book to read as a family.

Summer is a great time to read, so read as much as you can. It is important to also read a variety of enjoyable books over the summer. 

We look forward to seeing you in September.  In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your summer reading and your summer vacation.
