All students will participate in a dialogue about the book in September in their English classes.

BOOK GROUP READ

BOOK GROUP READ

Every student will choose ONE BOOK from the list of Upper School faculty-promoted books.

This book places the student in a teacher led book group which will meet in the first Stevens Building Dialogue in the fall.

The book group is a great way to get to know a US faculty member better – or to meet one you don’t know!

FREE CHOICE READ

FREE CHOICE READ

Every student chooses ANY book that he or she wants to read.

Use Mrs. Lansdale’s Lib Guides (see tabs above to access books published in the last year) and Reading Lists on the Library page to direct you to great book choices!

Answer these questions in one-page written summary to bring to your English teacher on the first day of school:

  • Why did I choose this book?
  • How did I fit reading the book into my summer schedule?
  • What connections did I make to the book as I read?
  • What is my most significant memory of the book?

Read! Read! Read!

It’s summer.

Three books should only be the beginning!

Go the library page for other great choices.

Read! Read! Read!

Summer is a great time to read, so read as much as you can. It is important to also read a variety of enjoyable books over the summer.

Please take advantage of your Public Library Summer Reading Programs, books, audio and e-books available for free.

We look forward to seeing you in September.  In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your summer reading books, read as much as you can, and have a wonderful summer!

Best wishes for a great summer from Mr. Palmgren, your Upper School teachers, and your Librarian.
