Summer Reading for NCCS Upper School Students 2022: Home

Upper School Summer Reading Requirements

UPPER SCHOOL SUMMER READING, 2022

This summer, we in the NCCS English Department ask each

Upper School student to read at least three books …

and encourage you to read more!

     1.  An All-Upper School read: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum

                                       2.  A Grade level read (see below)

                                       3.  A free choice read (see below)

When we return to school in the fall, we will display our books in the commons and orchestrate a “book swap” among grades and classes. If you need help getting your hands on a paperback that you don't mind swapping in the fall, please reach out to Mrs. Gault at sgault@countryschool.net

FREE CHOICE READ

Every student will choose ANY book that he or she wants to read.

We recommend using the lists on the Blue Tabs above, particularly the "Top Picks from Your Teachers", "More Childhood Classics" and "Top 100 Picks for Young Adults" tabs.

But really ANYTHING goes!

Read! Read! Read!

It’s summer.

Three books are ONLY the beginning!

Read! Read! Read!

Summer is a great time to read, so read as much as you can. It is important to also read a variety of enjoyable books over the summer.
In addition to perusing the tabs above, please take advantage of your Public Library Summer Reading Programs, books, audio and e-books available for free.

We look forward to seeing you in September.  In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your summer reading books, read as much as you can, and have a wonderful summer!

Best wishes for a great summer from your Upper School teachers, and your Librarian.
